Visiting the Ballpark

This weekend the Salvateenies got to enjoy a few of the perks of a mom who works for the World Champion San Francisco Giants.

Because the Giants have just won their very first championship since moving to San Francisco, the team management is feeling like celebrating with everyone - including employees.  We were invited to pose for pictures with the Championship Trophy, which we gladly did on Friday.  Joe and I bundled the babies into their adorable bright orange "World Series Champions" onesies and sweatpants and packed them off to the ballpark (and, may I mention, the new "pilot" parking machines on the Embarcadero that allow for up to 12 hours of parking and charged us just $3.25 for three hours were pretty cool).  We bumped into a few other ushers who were leaving and quite excited to see the babies, who had last been to the park in utero.  When we got close to the front of the line we parked the strollers and started uncovering and unbuckling them all. One of the employees offered to use my camera to take some pictures, so we have those in addition to the professional shots taken - we're still deciding if any of them are spectacular enough to warrant use as a New Years Card, so we'll reserve release of them until then.

The best part about posing for the pictures, aside from the adorable memory it will make for the babies, was watching as everybody completely freaked out at me holding two of them at once.  Daniel was in my right arm and insisted on gazing up at me instead of out toward one of the cameras.  I decided to shift the way I was holding him so I could turn him toward the camera and I felt the collective gasp from everyone near, all of whom apparently thought I was about to drop him!  I can understand their feeling - the 'teenies are still within the realm of large newborns, so most people don't expect them to already have the level of muscle control that they display.  Needless to say, I did not drop any babies and they were truly adorable in the pictures.  You'll see.  :)

And the baseball extravaganza did not end there!  Saturday was the annual Giants Employee Party.  This year the team was feeling magnanimous and allowed employees to bring three guests.  After calling to make sure that the babies didn't count (since they wouldn't be eating), I invited master baby wranglers Tom and Carla to join us and was glad to have an extra spot to offer to Auntie LeeAnn, who did a little quick shopping in the Dugout Store before we headed into the festivities.

We wound our way through the Field Club, passing tons of folks who ran up to see the babies and tell me how great I look (again, if you're looking for compliments, show up to a place where they haven't seen you since you looked like a whale).  Many of these people already knew the triplets, it seemed, though I could not place them for the life of me.  Just another day of borrowed celebrity - I will forever be "the lady who had triplets".  As we were leaving the Club, we found Vicki, who has been dying to meet the 'teenies for, well, more than the eleven and a half weeks they've been alive.  So we all wandered out to the stands and I decided we should roll right onto the field.  LeeAnn mentioned quietly that she'd never been on the field before, and I was reminded just how cool what we were doing really was.  My babies have been on a major league baseball field, home to a world championship team, before they can even walk.  Sure, they won't remember it, but we've got pictures!

We looked around at what there was to do on the field when I noticed that the Giants dugout was available for wandering.  And so we wandered right over to it and parked the 'teenies in the front row:

And dressed them up for the occasion in their new hats:

(But don't tell them - they aren't officially theirs until the 8th night of Chanukah!)

Here they are posing with Mommy

and with Auntie LeeAnn
The Salvateenies stayed put in the front row and held court as their adoring public came by for audience after audience.  As one o'clock approached, it was time to feed the babies (and their about-to-be-fed status won us a stay of expulsion from the dugout when the marathon awards ceremony started up a few minutes later).  Mommy got a break as everyone wanted to feed a baby:

Vicki took Caroline

Carla took Daniel

and Tom got Max
Then it was out to the warning track for a photo op at Triples Alley - the Triplets at Triples Alley!

And then it was time for a trip up to the Press Box to see where Mommy and Daddy work:

First a stop at Daddy's locker - you can tell they're impressed

Then a visit to Daddy's seat in the Press Box

The view from Daddy's seat

Mommy's beat when she works the Press Box - Coke Machine!
And working the wall at the 115-116 aisle, where Mommy spends the rest of her working time at the ballpark!
