Some Bay Area Pool Time

The kids' friend Calista is a mermaid - she even has a mermaid tail to prove it, and she can use that tail to swim.  This is what happens when you spend lots and lots of time in the pool, Caroline tells me.

Calista (and her mom, of course) invited us to join them at the pool - part of the Bay Club about a half hour south of San Francisco where the weather is reliably warmer than in our foggy little corner of town.  We went twice and though the boys still spent much of their time in the water clinging to me for dear life, at the end of each day they had actually built up enough confidence to loose their grasp and even, in Daniel's case, float along solo for a bit.

The place is amazing - there's a kiddy wading pool with a slide and water spritzers, a hot tub, a water slide, and a big pool for swimming.  Plus snacks and food and drinks and their friends to play with - it was an overwhelming day and we closed the place down!

We were invited back over Labor Day weekend and the kids seemed a little more comfortable, though Max was definitely still too cool for school.
