A long time ago... (well, just six years...)

The kids decided on a birthday/Halloween costume theme pretty easily this year...STAR WARS!

You would think there were tons of Star Wars party favors and ideas easily available...but you'd be wrong.  We did find some good decorations and put together fun gift bags (I think) - including some home-made Star Wars shaped crayons - and, of course, there was plenty of Star Wars shaped jell-o and Star Wars Cheez-Its, and...ok, it wasn't that hard to come up with Star Wars stuff for the party...

The kids wore their Star Wars shirts and we all took everything down to the playground to set up.

The guest list included family friends and preschool friends as well as many new friends from their first weeks in kindergarten.  All in all, I think we invited 65 children, but luckily not everyone was immediately available.  After three years of playground parties, we pretty much have it down to a science, but this year was made considerably easier with the help of my friend Jill, who brought her dolly and helped schlep everything in and set up, Veronica, a kindergarten mom who helped with set up and keeping all the food flowing, and Christine, a preschool mom who took over organizing and spearheaded the cleaning afterwards.

The kids tore around the playground playing with everyone and then came together for cake (and cupcakes, as always, for the birthday kids).  And then it was back out to play!
