The Salvatore Family Zoo!

Since this was the first year the babies could really get "in" to Halloween, it only made sense that we would do not one, not two, but THREE different Halloween events with them.

The week before trick or treating, our Parents of Multiples group had an Autumn get-together at a local playground, complete with treats, crafts, and a face-painter.  Costumes were encouraged, and we didn't want to disappoint.

Especially not Daniel, who LOVES his tiger costume!

Monkey Max

Caroline loves the tray on her stroller

And she loves the one on her brothers' stroller, too (check out the tippy-toes!)

It was a warm day, and Max opted for the hood-free look, giving him more of a Jedi Warrior vibe than Monkey (perhaps that's a yellow light saber in his pocket?)

Monkey on the Move

Caroline found some friends under the picnic table

Max really didn't like that hood!

Tiger on a Tear

Caroline made friends with another little tiger

Lions can eat bouncy balls, right?

Look how happy Max is once he slipped out of his monkey suit!

And off to explore!

Caroline and Daniel check out leaves

Max considers joining in the baseball game

Max, out sitting in his field

Max, out kneeling in his field

Finally, Max, out standing in his field!

Daniel shows just how tuckered out they all were after this fun party!

The next week, we met up with Sam and Junior and the Linerts and went to the SF Zoo's annual "Boo at the Zoo" event.  I think this is going to be LOADS of fun when the kids are old enough to walk around - different companies set up trick-or-treating stations and there are activities and decorations all around the zoo.  Even with them in strollers, we enjoyed the day.

Junior came as a pumpkin!

Eating french fries

Eating puffs

Feet on the tray, as always

The boys go check out some of the sheep at the petting zoo

They weren't all that excited

Not sure the boys are so spooked by the decorations

Feet up!

Here's a real tiger

Here's a cute little tiger!

Real lioness

Caro-lioness

She doesn't need a hat!

And perhaps Mommy shouldn't wear it either...

Daniel thinks Mommy was super silly to even try that Lion hat on!

Max thought that was super silly!

And then there was the actual Halloween day.  We gave Caroline a choice between her lion costume and the butterfly costume we got for her last year.  This time, she chose to be a butterfly.

Though she honestly doesn't look that happy about it

Max wants you to know that monkeys have teeth

Everyone has their own bucket for candy!

Can you see little Max in the middle there?

She looks tired after just two houses!

Getting a pep talk from Uncle Kelly

Matching tigers!

Caroline wanted to see if she really could fly with those wings

Daniel is a MUCH cuter tiger than Mommy is!

Max is trying to make a break for it!
After about eight houses on our block, we headed home.  The babies were heavy and tired and it was better to be done before any major meltdowns happened.  Once inside, though, they were excited to check out their loot.

"Hmmm...junior mints, or 3 musketeers?"

Junior Mints!

Actually trying the candy

"Do I like it?"

"...not sure..."

Max got to try some, too

Daniel wanted to choose his own piece!

Still searching for the best one.

Wait! Where do you think you're going with that basket?

"YAY!"

Still not sure if she likes wearing her hood

This picture makes her look a little more like a dinosaur than a butterfly!

OK, hat off now
We planned to entertain trick or treaters until 'Teenie bed time at 8:30, but every time the doorbell rang, they all got super excited, rushed over to the door, and then screamed and sobbed bitterly when we closed it again.  It wasn't worth the rollercoaster of tiny emotions, so we shut the light off at 8.  We could still hear people moving around outside, but nobody came up the stairs or bothered us after that.  In retrospect, I should've put our bowl of candy out on the porch for any late-comers.  Now what am I going to do with two pounds of Smarties and Tootsie Rolls?  (Seriously - do Tootsie Rolls even exist the rest of the year?)

We can't wait for next year when they can all WALK AROUND for their Halloween!
