Happy 2nd Birthday, Salvateenies!

We woke the Teenies with singing and they quickly figured out that that there was something special about the day.  After just one round of the song, Caroline already knew it was her "Happy Day!"  The party was scheduled for afternoon, so we had some fun quality birthday time in the morning before nap time, when party set up went into turbo mode.  Sam brought us decorations (her beautiful home made banner) and Grandma and Aunt Laya went to pick up the cake while I collected the food and Joe set up furniture.

The kids put on their awesome birthday outfits and checked out the decorations:

Then they went exploring the rest of the house to see what had changed for the party:

Sampling the food

Checking out the chairs

Visiting with the guests

Telling Grandpa a story

And Grandma!

And then the guests started to arrive:

Max had a slight meltdown

Daddy calmed him down briefly

He tried a little yoga, but...
But the meltdown came back

Until he found Kim

Look how calm he is hanging out with Kim!

Grandma and Sam chatting

Our new friends trying out the laptops

Auntie and Grandpa

Everyone was excited to drink out of the glass bottles

And now for WAY too many cake pictures.  The cake was supposed to say "Salvateenies" instead of "Sesame Street", but it was so yummy nobody noticed.

The kids each got their own cupcake with Elmo (for Caroline), Cookie Monster (for Daniel), and Oscar (for Max).

They were all more excited about their number "2" candle than they were about the cupcake for a while:

Daniel actually preferred to eat Daddy's slice of cake to his own cupcake.

Caillou liked the cake, too.  Or at least we think he did...

Cake coma?

Then for some playing time outside on the steps and inside with friends:

And just like that, the party was over and they were exhausted.  Caroline fell asleep before she even got entirely into her PJs.

Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us and wishes us well.  Here's to another exciting year!
