We settled in around the table and had dinner - roast beef and latkes, with sauteed green beans from the Chinese restaurant at the corner and a salad. The babies had chowed down on some sweet potatoes and lentils before everyone came, but they seemed to have forgotten all about that when they saw all the NEW food and were eager to slurp up whatever folks would give them. There were a couple of tense moments when each of the boys got a little too much of the spice from the spicy green beans, but after a little bit of apple sauce therapy, everyone was happy again.
While we cleared the table and the boys played in the living room, Caroline spent some time with Grandpa, who swears he did not teach her this trick:
Thanks a lot, Grandpa!
Then, it was on to the presents! Daniel really got into the swing of things, trying on Mommy's new scarf and putting a bow on his head
(Maybe he felt left out last year, when the bow ended up on his butt) |
Max had heard you were supposed to shake your presents - nobody told him you did it BEFORE you opened them!
A pretty accurate depiction of the mayhem created by one year olds and presents:
Then it was time to burn off some of those calories climbing -
Caroline climbing on Grandpa |
Daniel climbing on Daddy |
After dessert, everyone got pretty sleepy, so it was time to put on our PJs:
I think Caroline just noticed Daddy is wearing footy pajamas, too! |
Daniel and Caroline went off to bed, but Max and Daddy stayed up just a little bit longer to wait for Santa...
