Thanksgiving, 2014

Auntie came to town for Thanksgiving and the kids were super excited to celebrate (and EAT) with her!

Conga line in Grandma's kitchen!

Fun with lampshades.

Then, because why should you stop the celebrating just because it's Friday?, Uncle and Wendy took the kids down to San Jose for a little Aragon family Thanksgiving celebration.  Caroline got to go out with Wendy and her sisters and niece to get mani/pedis.

Look at her acting like she does this all the time!

The boys went shopping while Caroline did her nails.

Sparkle nails!

Little Gardners at the Academy

The Academy of Sciences has a little explorers program that meets on Wednesday mornings.  The kids haven't been able to go since we've been members because they go to school, but we had the Wednesday before Thanksgiving off and so we rushed out to get there early and get tickets.  For $5 each, the kids got to spend an hour in the Academy's garden learning about bulbs and how they grow.  They got to plant different kinds of bulbs in the garden and they got to take bulbs and a whole planting set home with them as well.

Max accidentally flicked dirt all over a kid standing next to him.  We didn't make the greatest impression on that family.

Then we went inside and checked out the aquarium and the life science part of the museum.

Parent-Child Evening

Twice a year, the kids' school has a "parent-child evening", which is like an Open House that lets parents come into the classroom to see what's going on and gives the kids the opportunity to show off what they are doing in class.  We were scheduled for the second time slot of the evening and we got there a little early because the kids were so excited about going to "school at night"!  While we waited, the kids got to show us the fun things in the "play room" where they do pre-school and after-school activities.

Book corner

Puzzles at the table

Blocks on the floor!
And then it was time to show us their "work" in class!

Daniel doing "screwdriver work"

Caroline doing "locks and keys work"

Daniel working on shapes

Max doing color matching

Caroline doing silver polishing

Max guessing shapes

Caroline's turn

Waiting in line for the sink

Chalks and slates

Practicing buckles

Numbers!

Their activities are much more varied than they were last year and they were much more verbal about sharing with us what each piece of work was and how they did it.  I was so happy to see how proud they were to show us what they are learning and to see them enjoying it so much.
