Random Spring 2016

In March, the DC Super Hero Girls hit Target and Caroline could NOT have been more excited to get her new SuperGirl and BatGirl dolls (and later on, Wonder Woman).  This led Daniel to ask me why the boy super heroes never get to have hair...

We went out to the Academy of Sciences over Spring Break and the kids posed by the fountain.

One day with Uncle, they decided they wanted to try on their old 2014 Halloween costumes.

Max and Daniel had a couple of "twinsies" moments as well that were pretty cute.

Circus Class

In December, we went to a birthday party for the kids' friend Soleil at Acrosports, a gymnastics and circus gym housed in old high school gymnasiums near the Golden Gate Park panhandle.  When we got home, Caroline could not stop talking about it and after a bit of research, we signed up for "Family Circus Class".  This meant that Uncle and I went to class every Sunday morning learning how to do partner acrobatics and other circus skills like juggling, plate spinning, contact juggling, hula hoop tricks, balancing, and other skills.  The first session we did it there were about six to eight kids there and we learned a lot of progressive skills.  The second session it was just the three of us and one other boy, and it ended up being a lot more loosely organized and centered on what we might want to work on that day.

Over the summer, the kids are going to take more general tumbling class and the plan in the fall is for them to take break dancing, which is Max's class of choice.

The new rooms have come with the new responsibility of keeping them clean.  Caroline's room is very small, which means it gets messy very quickly.  This is the first time she cleaned it all by herself.

And it obviously tired her out (she's actually sleeping in a tent on her just cleaned floor here).

And Max and Daniel sometimes still indulge in naked dance parties.

Scaling the Rock Wall!

The SF Rec and Park has a program called "Mobile Rec" that brings a rock wall, bikes, frisbees, and skateboards (among other things) out to neighborhood playgrounds for kids to access.  I saw on the website that it was going to be at one of our playgrounds, Rochambeau, in May and offered it to the kids, knowing mountain goat Caroline would jump at the opportunity.  She did, but the boys were not so interested, so they stayed home and watched The Incredibles with Uncle while Caroline and I had a girls' day.

She walked right up and asked to get hooked into a harness to try the rock wall.

She never got higher than about half-way up, but that was still about 12 feet up.  But I think she had a pretty great time. 

After about forty-five minutes going up and down, she decided to switch over and ride bikes.  They had some cool bikes with training wheels.

Then we were off to the play structure for a little bit.

And then we stopped to get burritos.  It was the first time Caroline got one and the burritero (burrista?) decorated and identified hers as "First Burrito".  She declared it "YUMMY!"  A true San Franciscan.
